Shalom! Welcome to Shaarei Shomayim, a modern orthodox community of about 750 families, located in the heart of mid-town Toronto and within the eruv. We stand for Torah, the Jewish people and the State of Israel; we are constantly building a shul community where it all matters.

Shabbat is the core of shul life, and we are proud to offer multiple services, youth programs and educational programs each Shabbat. During the week, we provide a complete infrastructure of Jewish learning, education, community volunteering, socializing, and visiting the sick. We seek to inspire our members to live a life imbued with Torah values, dedicated to community, education, the Jewish People and the State of Israel.

Annual Community Siyum
This Shavuot, we will once again be joining together as a community to complete a significant area of Jewish learning.  In advance of the holiday in which we celebrate the giving of the Torah, we will be studying Maimonides Book of Mitzvoth - which lists and explains all 613 commandments in the Torah.  If you would like to be a part of this learning (which can be done from either a Hebrew or English text), please contact Rabbi Strauchler.

Guest Lecturer: Daniel Pipes

“The Middle East in Upheaval: Interpreting and Predicting”
After 40 years of stasis, four tyrants have been overturned and more could soon follow. In a tour d’horizon, Dr. Pipes will offer background to these developments, analyze their significance, and make specific predictions.
Daniel Pipes is president of the Middle East Forum. His bi-weekly column appears regularly in the National Review and in newspapers around the globe, including the Jerusalem Post (Israel), La Razón (Spain), Liberal (Italy), National Post (Canada), and the Australian.
